Similar organizations that through mutual cooperation and joint activities affect the radical social changes in the area of human rights, monitor daily social situations, timely and appropriate react to violations of human rights and thus constantly contribute to further democratization of society.

Mission

Human Rights House educate citizens about human rights and how to exercise these rights, advocating specific statutory provisions and their implementation in the field of human rights and democratization, and monitors the work of state institutions in these areas.

Objectives

In order to achieve outlined vision of society, House of Human Rights and Democracy in particular works towards the following objectives:

1. Implementation of the principle of respect for human rights in all spheres of social life in Serbia, on the basis of relevant national and international standards;

2. Raising awareness of the importance of respect for human rights;

3. Representation of victims of human rights violations in strategic cases and improvement of judiciar practice in the field of human rights;

4. Documenting the situation of human rights in order to monitor progress in this area and to create a collective memory based on dealing with human rights violations in the recent past;

5. Building a democratic society based on the rule of law through advocacy to strengthen the legal and institutional framework and to increase citizen participation in all spheres of social life.

In order to accomplish these goals, members of the Human Rights and Democracy coordinate their activities, each of which contributes its expertise and previous experience in the implementation of joint projects.

Our principles:

1. Synergy

KLJPD is founded on the belief that cooperation between member organizations dealing with human rights and democratization in different segments and from different perspectives, will lead to a more consistent and comprehensive policies in this area, and thus to faster and more effective social change.

2. Cooperation and networking

In addition to cooperation between member organizations KLJPD will be based on the achievement of sustainable cooperation with national and international organizations and civil society institutions. We believe that cooperation and networking necessary condition for effective work to improve human rights and democratization in Serbia.

3. Visibility

KLJPD will pay special attention to the visibility of its programs and civil society in general, and in order to change the perception of civil society among citizens, increasing the overall level of civic participation and activism, as well as a greater influence on decision-making at the institutional level.

4. Transparency

The work of the Human Rights and Democracy will be transparent in all areas. Also, KLJPD will integrate advocacy of transparency as a principle in every area of their work.

Methodology of work

Activities within the Houses of human rights and democracy are implemented through: education through seminars, conferences, workshops and the like; research, analysis and desktop monitoring of institutions, relevant government bodies and the media, publishing the results of work, research and educational programs; practical preparation of proposals policy advocacy and implementation process, representing victims of human rights violations and cases of strategic management in order to create the relevant case law, the implementation of the consultative process among civil society organizations, to create a networking platform for advocacy and / or construction of the recommendations in certain areas, strengthening the capacity of institutions and civil sector through consultation, training and further monitoring work, organizing campaigns and promotional activities; watch dog activities, publication of press releases and ad hoc responses to current issues, and the use of new technologies and new media.
